A historic treasure, discovered by a group of metal detectorists in Chew Valley in 2019, has been acquired for £4.3 million. The find includes 2,584 silver coins dating back to the Norman Conquest, marking it as one of the most valuable treasures of its kind. The South West Heritage Trust purchased the coins, as confirmed by the Chew Valley Gazette.

Starting on 26 November, the coins will be on display at the British Museum. After this debut, they’ll tour other UK museums before their permanent home at the Museum of Somerset in Taunton.
